Graduation Parade AKA POP 04/07

When the whistle blows
Sirens everywhere
And the flag goes up
In the battalion square

All NSFs should know this song, hehe. But it was not the flags that went up in the battalion square; its the jockey cap of our proud NSFs!

The excitement started accumulating the night before our POP, though we had plenty of area cleaning to do (including scrubbing the toilet and cleaning behind the cupboards and underneath the beds to make sure its spotless) and it was pretty tiring. Many of us stayed up for the night for our final talk cock session. It was a great party with great food like Oreos, Maggie Mee and dry rations. Trust me, these are the delicacies in Tekong.

The next morning, we woke up at 5, to get ready for our final rehearsal and parade. We cleared our cupboards, looked at our bed for 1 final time and i kissed goodbye to my FHM poster on my mirror. Haha... For the guys, this is her blog: http://www.euniqueflair.com/

It was still raining when we did the final rehearsal, and i was praying that the rain will stop. Else the parade will be truncated to a wet weather program. That is sucky, cause we wont be able to throw the darn cap. That also means our parade rehearsals will be put to waste. But, like every fairy tale that has a happy ending, the sun began to creep its way out of the glommy clouds, and we felt the nice warmth on our necks.

Finally the grand moment arrived, and it was entirely up to us to put up a nice show.

I am standing in the front row, try to spot me.

I was standing in the front row, so imagine how straight i stood when the 3 crab GOH walked past me. It was another moment to remember when your dad puts on the jockey cap for you. This signifies that the task of protecting singapore has been passed onto you. And then there was the final segment, where we have to perform the infantry roar and viola~ throw the jockey caps and say goodbye to Tekong ... for now.

It was with mixed feelings that i POP, of course i was happy to graduate from my BMT, but i will certainly miss my buddies, the care of the commanders and the memories I have left behind.
