PR Bleeding

Went to see the doctor today in the morning for PR bleeding*. Got quite a scare, as this could mean serious underlying problems internally. After some tests done by my GP, i was referred to SGH A&E Department. The GP couldnt give a proper diagnosis, and more investigations got to be carried out. That was pure anxiety. Just a simple google on PR bleeding and the words colon cancer will appear. This is 1 time when google didnt help much. Haha...

To top things off, i had 1 relative who died of colon cancer. Apparently it is a hereditary disease. There is a form of colon cancer that attacks young adults, ie those before 40.

And so i went in the afternoon to SGH. Met the duty doctor and went through another round of checks. She drew my blood for tests and i was pushed to the observation ward. And if you are wondering, yes literally pushed - on a bed. Its my first time inside the hospital - as a patient. Everyone was so glum and sick. I think i'm the only that is sitting up and listening to my mp3. Soon after the results of my blood test was out. Everything was normal and the doc concluded that it was nothing serious. The bleeding could be due to internal piles or fissures. I was then discharged making my stay less than 2 hours.

I have to go for further tests to confirm that. At least i know its not colon cancer. Thank god.

The feeling of lying down on a hospital bed, that helplessness and loneliness - Sucks. I have now newfound respect for the docs and nurses. They all look so beautiful, radiating kindness on all the patients, making them feel better. They are an underrated profession, especially nurses.
