Congrats on your confirmation!
my current job's probation was 6 months and I never thought that I could pass it you know.. So i was actually quite surprised when i was confirmed cause i was quite cui seriously..
You too shy to share your strengths here is it? haha!
The gen Y thing about waiting to be served i think is somewhat quite true for me.. when i just started working at my first job, i was the youngest and i just took whatever ppl gave to me.. i did not have the initiative to be the one to say "hey do you need help? i help you? let me do this.." not that i am any better now.. haha!
until i came to this work place, all of my colleagues are youngsters of our age, i started to be conscious of some stuff.. they will always offer to help carry stuff, do things, help serve food when we eat together blah blah.. whereas i am still in the background waiting to be "served".. nowadays i try to remember to help but i always forget..
for the drinking water thing.. i would think that what your VP said is quite right.. it's not traditional or what but based on seniority, you should be the one pouring drinks for everyone.. quite throw face in front of external vendors that your VP is serving your drinks..
but about the gen Y difference i think it is not right.. from my observations of my gen Y colleagues, it does not seem the case.. he shouldnt use the majority of the gen Y to determine that the minority is also like that.. i guess gen Ys are being stereotyped.. so next time you gotta be more careful with the way you carry yourself and the way you act.. must have initiative and be fast in your action..
for me i think it has from a habit become my character which is totally wrong, should have initiative to do stuff.. have to correct this bad character..
